Google Can Now Notify You About Your PII Appearing in Search

Google

Google made a new tool to help you find and remove any of your personal information from it’s search results on both the app and the web.

Also, you can ask Google to send you notifications whenever any of your data pop-ups in search results in the future. This is a betterment of the existing tool that needs you to manually search in the web for your PII, and remove whenever found something. Google is rolling out this feature to English-based results first, with more countries and languages to be added later.

If you’re so concerned about your personal information appearing in Google search results, now there’s an easy tool to remove it. As announced today, a new feature added to Google’s “Results about you” dashboard will allow you to find and remove any of your PII easily.

Reaching the section, you need to input your personal information like a known number, email address or other details – to let Google pull up websites that contain matches. You can review each webpage it appears on and submit a request to remove it.

Previously, you needed to search your PII in the Google search directly and manually remove it from the About this result section. The new feature will make this process easier and if you’re concerned that your PII may appear in the search sometime in future, you can enable push notifications to let Google alert you about any new results appearing later.

You can also track your requests from Google’s hub, which shows your in-progress, approved, denied and undone requests. Well, Google says it denies requests from specific search results, like those appearing in public domains like government or educational websites, which are helpful to the public.

This feature is available to English-language results, with Google adding other countries and languages “soon”.
