Mozilla Firefox is Getting More Than 400 Extensions on Android

Mozilla Firefox

Mozilla Firefox is getting more than 400 extensions on Android starting from December. In a blog post, Mozilla explained that the Firefox extension on Android will be openly available to all users worldwide. Starting next month, more than 400 extensions will be available at launch and hundreds more will be added in the coming months. The extension will be available for all users globally from 14th December.

This is not a new update as Firefox on Android already supports extensions. The only difference is that the extensions download page on Android is a bit limited as of now as per the Mozilla support page. With the new update, users can download and use more popular extensions on their Android devices. Mozilla has also provided developers with a new way to port desktop extensions to Android with the new update. The company also has an online workshop where they explain how to develop and port desktop extensions to Android.

Additionally, Mozilla is redesigning it’s extension download page on Android so that users can easily find the newly available extensions and download them. Users will also find the new incoming extensions on that newly redesigned page.

The company states, “In anticipation of the launch of open extensions on Android, we just added a link to “Explore all Android extensions” on AMO’s Android page to make it easy to discover new content. And just for fun and to offer a taste of what’s to come, we also released a couple dozen new open extensions for Android. You can find them listed beneath the Recommended Extensions collection on that AMO Android page”.
