OpenAI is Making a ‘Superintelligent AI’ to Solve World Problems

After stirring the world with ChatGPT, OpenAI is now on the path of making a Superintelligent AI – and a system to limit any mishaps from it.

As announced today, OpenAI said the new Superintelligent AI could solve some of the world’s significant problems and be ready by this decade. Thus, the team is dedicating 20% of their computing power to make an automated alignment researcher that assists them in controlling the new AI model.

A Far Superior AI Model

OpenAI isn’t stopping after the success of ChatGPT, as the non-profit is now going to build a next-generation superior AI – the Superintelligent AI. Hoping to make one by the end of this decade, OpenAI says it formed a dedicated team to lead this project, co-headed by OpenAI’s Chief Scientist Ilya Sutskever and Jan Leike, the research lab’s head of alignment.

Together, the team will make an automated alignment researcher – that will assist OpenAI in managing the upcoming Superintelligent AI. The company claims to have dedicated 20% of it’s secured computing power to this initiative while also looking for machine learning researchers and engineers to work on this.

To the unknown, Superintelligence is a superior large language model(LLM) that’s smarter than humans and can excel at multiple areas of expertise instead of one place like the current generation models. Further,

“Superintelligence will be the most impactful technology humanity has ever invented and could help us solve many of the world’s most important problems,” says OpenAI.

This announcement comes when the world governments frame rules for the growing AI industry. Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, has met tens of federal lawmakers recently to address concerns about how his ChatGPT works.
