Samsung Unveils Galaxy Tab S9 Series With Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Chip

Alongside the most-anticipated Galaxy Z Fold5 and Flip5, Samsung has also launched the new tablet series – Galaxy Tab S9 Series today.

The flagship lineup includes three models, a regular Tab S9, Tab S9+ and a Tab S9 Ultra. All these handsets come equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, have an AMOLED display and come with S-Pen styluses out-of-the-box. Here’s more;

Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Series

Samsung is one of the few OEMs keeping the tablet space alive, with it’s Galaxy tabs offering a reliable big-screen experience to those needing or liking it. Today, the company unveiled a new tablet lineup – Galaxy Tab S9 Series, comprising a vanilla Galaxy Tab S9, a Plus model and an Ultra variant.

Starting with the big one, the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra has a large 14.6″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 1,848 x 2,960px resolution. It supports a 120Hz variable refresh rate and an under-display fingerprint sensor.

Running on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, the ultra variant has a dual-rear set-up led by a 13MP primary sensor and a 12MP ultrawide lens. The setup can record 4K videos at 60fps and support autofocus. Upfront, there’s a 12MP selfie camera in the notch.

The device has quad speakers with AKG tuning and is available in Wi-Fi only and 5G models. There are several storage configurations of up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage and lastly, this premium handset comes with an 11,200 mAh battery with 45W fast charging support, but you need to buy your adaptor since Samsung doesn’t bundle it in the retail package.

Talking about the other two – both the vanilla Tab S9 and Tab S9 Plus come with the Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel, 120Hz refresh rate and a 12MP front camera. But they vary in screen sizes and a few other aspects. First, the vanilla Tab S9 variant has an 11″ diagonal, while the Tab S9 Plus has a 12.4″ diagonal screen. With the same dual 13MP + 8MP rear-facing cameras, Tab S9 is only configurable with 8/12GB RAM and 128/256GB storage, while the Plus variant has up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.

Regarding battery, the Tab S9 has an 8,400 mAh capacity, while the Tab S9 Plus has a 10,900 mAh cell. Both tablets support up to 45W fast charging, but as the Ultra model, you should get your charger.

All three Galaxy Tab S9 models are now IP68 dust and water-resistant, making them the first mainstream Samsung tablets to be so(aside from the rugged Tab series). Further, they all run on Android 13-based One UI 5.1 and come bundled with the S-Pen styluses.

Pricing and Availability

The larger Tab S9 Ultra comes in Beige and Graphite colours, with pricing starting at $1,199/£1,199/€1,339. The vanilla Galaxy Tab S9, on the other hand, starts at $799/£799/€899, while the Galaxy Tab S9+ will go from $999/£999/€1,199.

Pre-orders for all three handsets start today, while sales will begin on August 11.
