Google Drive is currently the biggest cloud storage service used globally. However, some users have reported losing their data on Google Drive. The company is looking into the matter and is unclear whether it is a bug or a permanent issue.
The issue is not for everyone as some people have reported the issue on online forums. As per some users, their files from recent months have mysteriously gone missing on Google Drive, with months of data going missing from the account entirely. A user reported that his files from May 2023 onwards have gone missing. It is also being reported that all the changes in the files and folders from May 2023 onwards have been reverted. This means that only those files that have been affected which are stored after May 2023, and all the changes that are made after May 2023 have been affected. All the missing files are not in the trash, as well as not in any other folder on the drive.
Since the issue has been reported, many users tried to retrieve their lost files and data but nothing has happened as they cannot recover their lost files by any means. One of the users who reported this issue to Google has received a reply from the company stating that they are looking into this matter.
As per Google, this issue is “being investigated by our Product Engineers, and we are also waiting for a root cause analysis as well on how we can fix it”. As the company is working on resolving the issue, they have asked users to not make any changes to the root/data folder of Google Drive as it may cause some unexpected errors or issues.
Google is trying the resolve the issue and we hope that they resolve this issue at the earliest. If not resolved then this could cause some serious trouble for the people who have stored their important files and data on the drive. If you use Google Drive for storing your important data on the cloud then do check that everything is fine for you.
