Elon Musk: Encrypted DMs in Twitter Rolling Out Now

In the latest update to the app, Twitter will now allow it’s users to react with any emojis to messages in the DMs. This has long been promised by Elon Musk and seemingly rolling out this week.

Also, Musk announced rolling out the support for encrypted DMs this week, putting it on par with other social media platforms. He even promised to bring voice and video call support to Twitter soon.

Message Reactions and Encrypted DMs

Though Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter had a rough start, he’s sorting out things gradually, one at a time. The latest in this series is the introduction of encrypted DMs – which Musk has been preaching about since November last year.

Well, this could finally be coming, as Musk himself stated rolling out this support on Wednesday this week! Though the timeline track record of Elon Musk has been unreliable, we believe this support to arrive sooner or later, by this month’s end.

When available, users can communicate with each other in private; where even Twitter can’t intercept. While it’s good to hear, Musk didn’t explain how one can verify if their chat is encrypted or not. Aside from this, he said users can now react to messages in DMs with any emoji of their liking.

This was earlier restricted to only the last message and from a set of basic emojis. Further, Musk promised to bring the ability to make voice and video call on Twitter, letting users connect better without a phone number.

All these features put Twitter on par with other messaging apps like WhatsApp and Telegram, which had these features for so long. Well, all these efforts are part of Musk’s plan of making Twitter an “everything app“, which may soon include payments and trading.
