General Electric is investigating a potential breach into it’s infrastructure, after a threat actor claims to be selling access to GE’s internal network.

The threat actor is also selling stolen data from the General Electric, containing military information, SQI files and other sensitive data. While the company is yet to confirm any incident, the threat actor in question has a reputation of hitting high-profile companies in the past. So, hopefully, it turns out not to be true this time.

Backdoor Network Access and Data Breach at GE

General Electric, the American MNC pioneering in power, renewable energy and aerospace industries, has acknowledged a threat actor’s claims of selling it’s network access and stolen data. While it didn’t confirm the incident to be accurate, GE responded to BleepingComputer as;

“We are aware of claims made by a bad actor regarding GE data and are investigating these claims. We will take appropriate measures to help protect the integrity of our systems.”

To the unknown, a threat actor named IntelBroker had tried to sell General Electric’s “development and software pipelines” for $500 on a hacking forum earlier this month. But since they didn’t garner “serious buyers“, they’re now selling GE’s network access, as posted in a hacking forum.

This aside, the threat actor also sells stolen data belonging to GE, which they claim includes “a lot of DARPA-related military information, files, SQL files, documents, etc.” While these claims are yet to be authenticated, the threat actor IntelBroker has a history of successfully hitting high-profile firms.

Some of which include Wee! Grocery service and the District of Columbia’s Health Link program, where the threat actor leaked sensitive data.
