OnePlus Open

After numerous leaks and teasers, OnePlus has finally introduced the OnePlus Open, it’s first folding device, in India and other global markets. While this marks OnePlus’ first venture into the world of folding smartphones, this device is essentially a rebranded version of the Oppo Find N3, albeit with minor tweaks and camera enhancements. The OnePlus Open boasts a triple rear camera system developed in collaboration with Hasselblad, a Pro XDR display and the latest Snapdragon chipset. Let’s delve into the detailed specifications:

OnePlus Open Specifications:

The device adopts a foldable design reminiscent of the Oppo Find N3, which debuted a few months ago in China. It is set to compete with offerings like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5. The OnePlus Open is available in two color options: Emerald Dusk with a matte-frosted glass finish and Voyager Black with a vegan leather finish. The rear panel features a prominent circular camera island that resembles a CD and houses the triple rear camera system, complete with Hasselblad branding.

The OnePlus Open sports a 6.31-inch cover display with an LTPO 3.0 display panel, offering a 120Hz fast refresh rate, 2800 nits of peak brightness in broad daylight, and support for Dolby Vision. When unfolded, the device transforms into a small tablet with a 7.82-inch LTPO 3.0 display featuring a 120Hz fast refresh rate, 2800 nits of peak brightness in broad daylight, 10-bit colors, and Dolby Vision support. A key highlight of this folding device is it’s hinge, which OnePlus has equipped with a Flexion hinge for enhanced durability and quality. OnePlus streamlined the hinge components to reduce weight, resulting in 69 individual parts.

The device is powered by the latest and most excellent Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Moreover, OnePlus offers the flexibility to expand RAM virtually, allowing users to extend it up to 12GB using internal storage. Out of the box, the OnePlus Open runs on OxygenOS 13.2, based on Android 13. OnePlus has also committed to providing four years of major Android OS updates and five years of security updates for this folding device.

In the camera department, the OnePlus Open features a triple rear camera system comprising a 48MP Sony LYTIA-T808 “Pixel Stacked” primary sensor with optical image stabilization, a 64MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and optical image stabilization, and a 48MP ultra-wide lens. Additionally, there is a 20MP selfie camera on the cover display and a 32MP selfie camera on the primary display. Both selfie cameras are housed within centered punch-hole cutouts on the displays.

The OnePlus Open has a 4,850mAh battery that supports 67W SuperVOOC fast wired charging. Other notable specifications include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, which also functions as a power button, a USB Type-C port, 5G support, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth v5.3, and an alert slider.
